BJP govt in 4 states; Yogi leads UP |
The Bharatiya Janata Party showed historic performance in the recently held assembly polls in India, installing governments in four of the five states. The BJP has its governments in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand on its own, and in Goa and Manipur with allies. The Congress has formed its government in Punjab by snatching it from the Shriman Akali-BJP alliance. The BJP victory in India`s largeststate of Uttar Pradesh is significant and has installed Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister with two deputy ministers - KesavPrasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma. The portfoloios of the ministers are yet to be decided. PIO TV learns that the hief Minister has had long discussions with the BJP president in regard to portfolio allocations. Yogi as CM immediately asked top U.P. officials and all Ministers to disclose their assets. The state has also decided to close down scores of illegal slaughterhouses. For safeguarding the women from molestation, anti-Romeo squads have been formed. The Chief Minister has welcomed the Supreme Court`s call for talks to resolve Ayodhya Ram temple dispute among the concerned parties.
