Google to help with PMO app |
Times are changing. I-ways or information ways are as important as highways, according to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Centre was planning to invite ideas from the public for developing a mobile app for his office. The government would work with the global technology giant Google for selecting the best of the ideas, and the teams would be sent to the U.S. Times are changing. I would like my department to be helped with technology.”At the event marking the completion of the 25th year of Nasscom, Mr. Modi urged the domestic infotech industry to focus on meeting the global challenge of cyber-security and exploit the huge opportunity to generate wealth and fame for country.The entire world is concerned about cyber security and Indian IT professionals could do a lot for cyber-safety of digital assets across the world, he said .Speaking of the Digital India initiative, the Prime Minister said e-governance also implies easy governance, as well as economical governance. He said government is building IT infrastructure, and would adopt innovations suggested by the IT industry. Technology was helping curb corruption, and cited the examples of the coal block auctions and the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG subsidy.He felt there is an urgent need to eliminate India`s `digital divide`. Modi said the world would need “digital godowns” in the near future, where companies could park their data securely. He also urged the IT sector to boost tourism. “One way of doing this is to make virtual museums that showcase India`s heritage,” he said. He called upon industry leaders to contribute towards creating e-libraries for schools.
