Govt razed key Netaji file |
This crucial file, that had papers relating to the investigations leading to the circumstances leading to the death of Subhas Chandra Bose, was destroyed in "routine course" by the Central government decades back. This is one of the revelation from the 27 files relating to Bose disclosed on April 29 by the government. It came to notice when the Justice Mukherjee commission inquiring about the disappearance of Netaji sought this file in 2001. The Prime Minister`s Office told the commission — after searching — that the file had been weeded out in routine course in 1972, but the summary contents of file could be found in the cabinet secretariat. This was because the file had contained agenda papers and cabinet decisions which were stored. So the real corruption and deception to India started from Nehru era, not Indira era as it was originally believed But the deputy secretary of the cabinet secretariat, when asked, said "this organisation has no record relating to the contents of the file as it was formed only on September 21, 1968. The Mukherjee commission noted in its report that the availability of the file would have helped it arrive at the truth.
