Hindus most highly educated religious in US |
Hindus are the most highly educated religious group in the United States of America. A study conducted by the Pew Research Center based in US and published in the Wall Street Journal, says nearly 77 per cent of American Hindus are said to have a college degree as compared with an average of 27 per cent for all adults in US. Unitarian Universalists, according to the poll, were second most likely to have a college degree at 67 per cent followed by Jews at 59 per cent. Approximately 29 per cent Christians had degrees while 25 per cent of unaffiliated groups such as agnostics, atheists etc had college degrees. Interestingly, the poll says, 48 per cent of Hindus are most likely to have a postgraduate degree, followed by 31 per cent of Jews, 11 per cent of unaffiliated groups and 9 per cent of Christians. From the findings, the poll also deduces that American Hindus tend to have higher incomes, with roughly 43 per cent earning USD $100,000 or more, as against only 16 per cent of Christians and 21 per cent of unaffiliated groups.
