Indian consumers most optimistic |
Indian consumers seem to be most optimistic these days, particularly when compared with their counterparts in developed countries. The country ranks among the most optimistic in the world, according to a latest survey by Nielsen, while more than half of the global economies continue to be affected by prolonged geopolitical tensions. Among the biggest economies, the US showed a drop in confidence by two points while China and Japan showed a drop of four points each. The consumer confidence in urban India rose to 129 in October-December 2014, a three-point increase from the last quarter, and a 14 point increase from the last year`s index in the same quarter (115 in Q4 calendar 2013). The increased consumer sentiment is aided by lower inflation rates. And, the positive economic environment and development initiatives led by the Narendra Modi government have also been instrumental in driving the India growth story.
