Indian railways seek more funds |
Indian Parliament`s lower house, Lok
Sabha, on March 12th passed the 2015-16 rail budget with Minister Suresh Prabhu
making a strong pitch for a big hike in investment, warning that if this was
not done, the state-run transporter would "sink further and further".
He also sought to take states on board, saying they would be partners in the
railways progress by executing several projects in their areas. Prabhu said
raising money from Public Sector Undertakings and multilateral agencies like
World Bank, ADB and IFC was an option.
