Aam Admi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal took oath as the eighth chief minister of Delhi at the historic Ramlila Maidan on February 14. Just after he and his other colleagues was sworn in, Kejriwal promised that Delhi will become India`s first corruption-less state. Then, he proceeded and took charge at Delhi secretariat. Kejriwal was sworn in as Chief Minister in 2013 also, but resigned after 49 days following the withdrawal of support from the Congress Party. He does not needs outside support as he has 67 party MLAs out of 70–member assembly. Capping a momentous journey, Kejriwal promised to act also on those within his party who misused power and said he would live up to the promise of delivering statehood to Delhi, the Jan Lokpal Bill, free water, cheap power, more roads and infrastructure to make Delhi the best city. Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung administered the oath of office and secrecy to Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and five other ministers at the historic Ramlila Ground here, exactly a year after Kejriwal quit after a short 49-days regime. Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar also took oath of office and secrecy at the ceremony as a large crowd cheered. Manish Sisodia is the Capital`s first Deputy Chief Minister and will handle Education, Urban Development, Finance portfolios. Gopal Rai was given Transport, Labour, Rural Development and General Administration portfolios. Satyendra Jain to hold Power, Health, Industries, PWD and Irrigation and Flood Control portfolios. Asim Ahmed Khan will hold Food and Civil Supplies, Environment and Forest portfolios. Sandeep Kumar was given the responsibility of Women and Child Welfare portfolios. Jitender Singh Tomar will handle the Law department in the Capital.
