On the final day of the India Africa Forum Summit, the New Delhi Municipal Council had set up a giant screen at the busy intersection near Palika Bazaar in Connaught Place to facilitate a video conference between African and Indian students.The group from Africa, a mix of Nigerian students and Indians studying in an Indian language school in Lagos, waved the Indian Tricolour. The Indian students played flutes and trumpets and beat drums in a band demonstration. The children, who belong to NP Girls Senior Secondary School, were dressed in white uniforms wore tricolour as well as red sashes. Crowds cheered the students who started with a patriotic song "Tere charnon mein..." in praise of the motherland.They ended with a rendition of the school favourite, We shall overcome.The students sang to the accompaniments of the traditional Indian harmoni um and tabla. Students from Lagos, accompanied by officials from the Indian High Commission in Nigeria, started with typical African drum music--fastpaced, fun and rhythmic--creating an upbeat mood. Dressed in striped uniforms and maroon sweaters, the students then proceeded to songs based on the theme of friendship. Member of Parliament Meenakshi Lekhi, fashion designer Ritu Beri. PIO TV Chairman Munish Gupta was declared as India-Africa Coordinator.
