Modi calendar full of Foreign, Diaspora affairs |
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi calendar is packed with a focus on foreign and Indian Diaspora affairs. Sri Lanka`s new President Maithripala Sirisena is in India February 15. Modi returns the favor with a Colombo visit in March. Modi is invited as chief guest at Mauritius` national day. There is talk of him travelling to Seychelles as India establishes its footprint in the Indian Ocean region. He will also visit Maldives. It will be a while before Modi goes to Pakistan, but he is planning to be in Bangladesh after the Constitutional amendment to give effect. In April, Modi makes his first trip to Europe --France and Germany -- where India is partner country at the Hannover Fair. The Diaspora connect will be substantial because Modi believes they have a big role to play in India`s development. Modi will also visit Canada, where energy and Diaspora will rule the roost. Modi has a keen interest in relations with Canada, a country which he engaged with successfully when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. Then he will go to China in May. In June, Modi will travel to Russia for the BRICS summit, his first of the two this year. Later in October, he will return for the India-Russia summit. Besides there will regulation multilateral summits like UNGA, G-20 and East Asia Summit.
