Naidu: Rich to have more kids |
The spectre of `demographic crisis` seem to be haunting chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. He has been consistently pitching for growth of population using every public platform, the latest being a symposium on child nutrition held in Vijaywada under the aegis of the Unicef and the state legislative assembly. Expressing serious concern over the downward trend in population growth of Andhra Pradesh, he squarely blamed the rich for being content themselves with `one or no` child. Naidu said the elite sections tend to have one or none, while the poor on the other hand prefer to have one or two children. The one or none norm, which gained popularity as a result of the state-sponsored family planning campaign for several years, has lost its relevance now. In turn, it has to make way for one or more children norm, he observed.
