Rural Delhi land to be digitized |
The Delhi government plans to break the monopoly of a section of babus managing land records of the city`s 356 villages. Under the `Indraprastha Bhulekh` plan, authentic and digitally signed documents will empower property owners and end harassment of buyers at the hands of a burgeoning mafia. A detailed online database of land records will be maintained, along with maps linked to satellite imagery of ground status to provide a robust land monitoring and management system to check alterations in land status including transactions and illegal constructions. To begin with, the records of 52 villages of southwest district digitized in pilot mode will be put out in the public domain in weeks ahead. Trial runs for using the online system are on. Digitization for the remaining villages in 10 districts will be completed within five months from the public launch of the land record platform.
