Terrorists burried |
The two Pakistani-origin terrorists who were shot dead by police in California after they massacred 14 people in a jihadi rage were buried at a private Islamic cemetery in San Bernardino. Only about 10 people, including immediate family of the couple, attended the burial as most friends and associates chose not to associate with them. Many Islamic cemetaries are said to have declined to accept their bodies both for the stigma and fears that the graveyards may be defaced by protesters and other extremists. Rizwan Farook, a US-born Pakistani-American, and the wife Tashfeen Malik, a Pakistani citizen, were separately radicalised and found each other on a internet matrimonial site. US officials now contest reports that they had posted extremist messages on social media and that the government missed red flags. They say the couple only exchanged extremist thoughts with each other under privacy settings which was not possible for the government to monitor.Although Islamic rites require bodies to be buried within 24 hours of death, it took more than a week for authorities to release the bodies, which were claimed by Rizwan Farook`s family. The slain couple`s six-month old daughter is in state custody awaiting a decision on Rizwan Farook`s sister and brother-in-law`s application to adopt her.
