PIO murderer pleads guilty |
The final defendant of three teens implicated in the 2016 murder of Harshad Patel, an Indian American convenience store owner Harshad Patel in Chesterfield, Virginia, pleaded guilty Feb. 8. In accepting the plea from Thomas L. Jennings III, Chesterfield County Circuit Judge David E. Johnson convicted the teen to second-degree murder, amended from first-degree charges, and sentenced him to just shy of 13 years in prison. Johnson`s sentencing was for 40 years, with 27 years and one month suspended, according to a Richmond.com report. Chesterfield prosecutor Shawn Gobble told the court that the plea deal was predicated on Jennings` substantial cooperation with police, the report said.
