South Africa Indian Diaspora celebrates Shiv Jayanti, New Year |
The Indian Diaspora in South Africa celebrated Indian New Year and Shiv Jayanti, Shahaji Raje Bhosale Birth Anniversary and Remembrance Day of Chhtrapati Sambhaji Raje Bhosale, at Royal Natal Yacht Club in Durban on 18th March 2108. Chief Guest Honourable Deputy Mayor of EThekwini Durban, Mrs Fawzia Peer, graced the occasion. Presentation on MARATHA NAVY was biggest attraction, besides recognition of Indian Navy Captains, currently serving South Africa by their extraordinary skills. Cultral highights included instrumental music by multitalented Avi Ganas who plays various instruments from his wheelchair, a patriotic song by Rashu Kaushik, sitar rendition by Dr. Kannada Raghva and a show by popular Indian magician Harish. Presentation on Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his contribution for India was given by Program Organiser and President of Durban Marathi Mandal, Shri. Amit shivajirao More, who is a senior Manager at South Africa`s largest company TRANSNET. Hon Deputy Mayor Fawzia Peer praised the Indian community for integration and assimilation. Mahesh Eadake did a live painting of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 5 minutes. From among the three Awardees, Captain Saroor Ali highlighted that Shivaji always respected women, and even his enemy admired him for this quality.
