Cong announces first list of candidates |
As the general elections are around the corner, the political parties are gearing up for the ultimate test of their power and popularity. The Indian national congress party has declared its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha Polls. The list has some expected names, but to much surprise of the party workers and other competing parties, name of their star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi was not included. Ending speculations, that United Progress Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi will hang her boots in politics in the wake of her health concerns, her name figured in the first list of candidates released by Congress on Thursday, for the upcoming 2019 lok Sabha polls. She will be contesting from the Gandhi bastion Rai bareli. There were speculations that Sonia will sit off the elections to give her seat to her daughter and the party general secretary & incharge of the east Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The list included 11 candidates from Uttar Pradesh and 4 candidates from Gujarat.
