Congress veteran leader Ahmed Patel dies of COVID-19 |
Veteran Indian National Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who was undergoing treatment at a Gurugram hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, breathed his last after multi-organ failure in the early hours of Wednesday. He was 71. In a tweet, his son Faisal announced the sad & untimely demise of his father Ahmed Patel on November 25 early morning. After testing positive for Covid-19 around a month back, his health worsened further due to multiple organ failures. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus, inshallah. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Ahmed Patel`s death and said Patel was known for a sharp mind and his role in strengthening the Congress Party would always be remembered. He tweeted, “Saddened by the demise of Ahmed Patel Ji. He spent years in public life, serving society. Known for his sharp mind, his role in strengthening the Congress Party would always be remembered. Spoke to his son Faisal and expressed condolences. May Ahmed Bhaiʼs soul rest in peace.” Congress president Sonia Gandhi condoled the senior party leader`s demise, saying she has lost an "irreplaceable comrade, a faithful colleague and a friend" whose entire life was dedicated to the party. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condoled the demise of one of Sonia Gandhi`s closest political advisors and said he was a pillar of the Congress party and stood with the party through its most difficult times. Patel, who was also the Treasurer of the Indian National Congress, had tested positive for the Covid-19 and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on 15th of November.
