India comes down heavy on Pakistan after Pahalgam terror murders
Indian government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on 23rd April 2025 suspended major economic, diplomatic and people-to-people ties with Pakistan following the heinous Islamist attacks that killed 27 in Jammu and Kashmir`s Pahalgam that seems squarely blamed on Pakistan.
PM Narendra Modi presided over a 2-hour meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security with immediate decisions to downsize ties with Pakistan and heighten state of alert and security internally and on the border.
The Modi government will also convene an all-party meeting on 24 April.
A Lakshar-e-Taiba group - The Resistance Front - has claimed responsibility for the worst attack in Kashmir since Pulwama in 2019.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the cabinet committee resolved that perpetrators will be brought to justice and their sponsors held to account.
Misri briefed media saying big steps were being taken to stifle Pakistan economically. There wasn`t an indication of immediate border retaliation.

Indus Water Treaty suspended till Pakistan halts cross border terrorism.
Closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari.
All Pakistani nationals are barred from entering India. SAARC visas will be considered invalid. Any Pakistan nationals in India have 48 hours to leave.
All Pakistani military attaches in India declared persona non grata and to leave in a week. India to withdraw its military attaches.
The Anantnag Police in Jammu & Kashmir has announced a cash reward of Rupees 2 million for any information leading to the neutralisation of terrorists involved in the attack.
