India hosts first World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit 2025 |
India hosted a grand and successful first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The 4-day summit concluded on 5 May 2025.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated WAVES on 1 May 2025. It was attended by Ministers of countries, celebrities, filmmakers, TV producers, TV and Radio channels owners, newspapers, creative persons and reporters from over 90 countries. Organisers said a whopping ten thousand plus delegates attended.
WAVES represented India claiming stake to be among the biggest gatherings of brightest minds and influential figures from the media and entertainment industry. Subjects deliberated ranged from artificial intelligence in media and entertainment, the globalisation of media, the future of content creation, and the profound impact of emerging technologies.
The WAVES Bazaar was India’s answer to similar ones in Cannes, France, and Las Vegas, USA. The market drew buyers and sellers who made deals worth US $ 150 million.
Another achievement was the adoption of the WAVES declaration by representatives of 77 countries after the Global Media Dialogue. Global visitors were enchanted by a variety of cultural performances showcasing the diversity and rich cultural heritage of India and also as a modern country.
