India neutralises Pak air defence systems as Pak targets Indian military installations |
India has confirmed that on 7th May night it neutralised Pakistani air defence systems and radars, particularly in Lahore. India responded to Pakistan attempts to hit Indian military and civilian targets. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8th May chaired a meeting of all secretaries of the Government of India, and Home and Defence Ministries are coordinating with states to be ready for any further and full escalation by Pakistan. India has categorically warned that it does not want to escalate the conflict into military action as long as Pakistan military respects the Indian decision. India is prepared for full blown military action.
Indian Ministry of Defence said on 8th May 2025 that on 7th May 2025 India targeted terrorist camps and installations in Pakistan to avenge Pahalgam massacre of Hindus in India on 22nd April. India said it did not target Pakistani military establishments and any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response. Indian Defence Ministry said that on the 7th May night Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were then neutralised by India`s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks. On 8th May morning India Armed Forces also targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. India says it has reliable information that an Air Defence System at Lahore has been neutralized. Lahore had reported blasts around the airport with loud sounds.
India said Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using mortars and heavy calibre artillery in the areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. 16 innocent Indians were killed including three women and five children. India was thus compelled to respond to bring mortar and artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt.
Prime Minister Modi on 8th May chaired a meeting that included the Cabinet Secretary, senior officials from the Prime Minister`s Office, Secretaries from key ministries including Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications. Modi reviewed national preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination. Secretaries detailed their planning and said they are ready to deal with all kinds of emerging situations.
Coordinated steps are being taken to strengthen civil defence mechanisms, efforts to counter misinformation and fake news, and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. Ministries were also advised to maintain close coordination with state authorities and ground-level institutions.
