India records its 500th victory in ODIs |
India won its 500th ODI on Tuesday when it defeated Australia in the ongoing 5 ODI match series played in Nagpur, India. Only Australia has the distinction of winning more ODIs in the history of the game. India clinched victory in the last over thriller, in a match which saw the momentum shift from one side to another after every few overs. Australia won the toss and asked India to bat first. India got a bad start but with Captain Kohli striking big, consolidated 250 runs before being bowled out in the 49th over. Kohli struck his 40th ODI ton and looked unfazed by the wickets falling at the other end. In reply, Australia started well with an 83 run opening stand but then the Indian spinners started pulling the game back by taking regular wickets. In the end, the equation was 11 runs from 6 balls with only all rounder Vijay Shankar left to bowl. He struck gold with his first delivery by trapping Marcus Stoinis on 52 and then removing last man Adam Zampa on his third delivery to clinch the win for India.
