India says Indus Waters Treaty on hold until Pak stops terrorism
Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has made it clear that India will hold Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance unless Pakistan stops supporting cross border terrorism. In a hard-hitting statement, Jaishankar has also that vacating Pakistan’s illegal occupation of India’s Kashmir is the only open topic for discussion. Jaishankar was speaking at rhe inauguration of the Embassy of Honduras in Delhi on 15 May 2025. The Indian Foreign Minister rebuffed offer and remarks by the US administration on mediation between India and Pakistan.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Srinagar on May 15, 2025 addressed Indian Army personnel at the Badami Bagh Cantt, Srinagar. Singh condoled the death of soldiers in the recent India-Pak conflict and civilians killed during the Pahalgam terror attack. Singh questioned the safety of nuclear weapons in Pakistan, adding the nuclear sites in Pakistan should be taken over by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Reports said an Indian technical team has reached New York to present evidence regarding the Pahalgam terror attack to the Monitoring Team of the 1267 Un Sanctions Committee that decides on the global listing of terrorist groups. Meanwhile, there’s growing fallout of Turkey’s support to Pakistan. Reports indicate cancellations and suspension of collaborations and projects by major Indian educational institutions, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
