India stops mail, parcels, goods to and from Pakistan |
Amidst growing tensions between India and Pakistan with the looming threat of war or at least military response by India to the massacre of 26 Hindus in Pahalgam, Kashmir, two weeks ago, India has taken more steps to stop trade, mail and connectivity with Pakistan. In notification to be published in the national gazette, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through the Director General of Foreign Trade, has announced on 2nd May 2025 an extraordinary notice on prohibition of import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan with immediate effect in the interest of national security and public policy. Also, a public notice issued by the Indian Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, said on 3rd May 2025 that all categories of inbound mail and parcels from Pakistan through air and surface routes will be suspended.
