India to acquire defence equipment worth $ 379 million |
In a major move towards the strengthening of Country`s armed force the Defence Acquisition Council chaired by India`s Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman cleared the acquisition of defence equipment worth 379 million dollars. The Defence Acquisition Council chaired by India`s Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday accorded approval for acquisition of defence equipment for about 379 million dollars. Approval was granted for procurement of three Cadet Training ships for the Indian Navy, which would be utilized to provide basic sea training for officer cadets including women officer under trainees. The ships would be capable of undertaking Hospital Ship duties, providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, undertaking Search and Rescue (SAR) missions and Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations.
