Maharashtra state govt in limbo |
NCP chief Sharad Pawar has said that Maharashtra`s MVA government will continue under the able leadership of Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray. His remarks come a day after Maharashtra`s ruling alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi suffered a major setback in the Legislative Council polls as it lost one seat to BJP. Of the total 10 seats, NCP and Shiv Sena won 2 seats each, while Congress bagged 1 seat. But, the BJP won five seats. Adding to their woes, senior Shiv Sena leader and minister Eknath Shinde went into hiding with around 30 MLAs. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said that his party is of loyalists and attempts by the BJP to topple the MVA government would not succeed. He asserted that Shinde and the other MLAs will be back. Shinde and at least 30 MLAs are assumed to be at a hotel in Surat in Gujarat since late night.
