Modi touts India as hub for talent, innovation |
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has showcased India as the destination for global investors looking to rope in best talent for technology-led innovation. Modi delivered the inaugural address via video conference to the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2020 on 22nd December. India has the brightest minds, and celebrates a culture of openness and transparency, said the Indian Prime Minister, adding the Government stands ready to address any challenge and improve the research environment. He lauded the scientist for keeping India ahead in the fight against Corona. Modi said India has a rich legacy in science, technology and innovation, and his government`s effort aimed at making India the most trustworthy centre for scientific learning. The government wants the scientific community to breed the best of global talent, and Modi asserted that his recent New National Education Policy will help foster scientific temper from an early age. The Prime Minister said now focus has shifted from outlays to outcome, from textbooks to research and application. Modi said India had sufficiently demonstrated imbibing and creating digital advances to become a centre of evolution and revolution as a global high-tech power. Modi said his government had devised schemes to attract good talent in science by offering scholarships at various levels, but requested the science community to join in the outreach.
