PM Modi in Mysuru on International Yoga Day |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21st wished everyone on the eighth International Day of Yoga and said that yoga brings peace to society. Addressing the main event of the International Day of Yoga in the heritage city of Mysuru in Karnataka, Modi said, “Today, Yoga is being practiced in all parts of the world. Yoga brings peace to us. The peace from Yoga is not only for individuals, it brings peace to our nations and the world.” He said that yoga is not only for any individual but for the entire humanity. More than 15,000 people participated in the Yoga celebrations along with the Prime Minister at the heritage city. This year the theme is “Yoga for humanity”. The theme portrays, how during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, yoga served humanity in alleviating the suffering. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal performed Yoga asanas along with hundreds of people at Thyagaraj stadium in Delhi on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri performed Yoga at the Red Fort. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed Yoga at Chhattisgarh Sadan in New Delhi on World Yoga Day. Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman performed Yoga at the historic Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. ITBP personnel performed Yoga in Ladakh at 17,000 feet. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will not charge any entry fee at the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and other monuments on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga.
