Shiv Sena - BJP finalize seal deal for 2019 Maharashtra polls |
After months of slugfest and mudslinging on each other, the BJP and Shiv Sena on Monday finalized the alliance and seat-sharing agreement in Maharashtra for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The BJP will contest on 25 seats while the Shiv Sena will fight on 23 seats out of the total 48 seats in Maharashtra. In the state assembly polls, the two parties will have fifty fifty sharing while accommodating smaller parties for the fray. The state assembly polls are also due in Maharashtra within a few months. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that seat-sharing arrangement for assembly elections, scheduled later this year, will be finalized post discussions with smaller parties that are part of the NDA alliance. BJP president Amit Shah, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, have exuded confidence that Shiv Sena-BJP alliance will win minimum 45 seats out of the total 48 seats. At one point, it was appearing that the deranged allies will not join hands given tough talks and acidic comments on each other. In the last Lok Sabha polls in 2014, the NDA alliance had won 42 seats in Maharashtra.
