4 PIOs dead in US Hurricane Ida |
As many as four people of Indian origin have lost their lives due to drowning in the massive floods that have ravaged New York and New Jersey following Hurricane Ida. Apart from 4 dead, two Indian-origin persons are still missing in New Jersey where the authorities have launched a search operation with the help of drones. Local media reports said Hurricane Ida, which made landfall on August 29 in Louisiana, killed 68 people so far. It is the second-most destructive hurricane to hit Louisiana on record, only after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Other states affected by the hurricane include Pennsylvania with four residents dead, Maryland and Connecticut each with at least one confirmed death.
