Two major biopics on Father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, are being produced, one starring Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and the other starring Telugu megastar Jr NTR. Incredibly enough both are huge biopics.
Aamir and famous filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani announced on 15 May 20205 their movie on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke. It is labeled as an extraordinary journey of Phalke, an artist who laid the foundation of the largest indigenous film industry in the world. It is set during the period of Indian independence struggle. Filming begins in October 2025, when Aamir Khan would have released his next mega flick ‘Sitaare Zameen Par.’ Script is by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj. VFX studios from Los Angeles is doing AI-driven designs on the pre-independence era. Included are rare anecdotes from Phalke’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar. Jr NTR is playing the lead in ‘Made in India’ on the life and legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke. The film was announced by SS Rajamouli in 2023, produced by Varun Gupta of Max Studios and SS Karthikeya of Showing Business. Jr NTR is convinced and deeply emotionally attached with the project. He plays a visionary man who revolutionized Indian storytelling through cinema.
