India @ Cannes Film Festival 2023 |
A proud Indian Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan is leading the Indian contingent at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2023 in France. The 76th Cannes Film Festival began 16 May and runs through May 27. Indian celebrities will be in attendance in full force. On May 16, walking on the red carpet were Bollywood stars Sara Ali Khan, Esha Gupta, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, and former cricketer Anil Kumble. Esha looked stunning in a Nicolas Jebran couture gown, while Sara was awesome an Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla lehenga with golden embroidery. Manushi looked exquisitely elegant in a white gown by Fovari. Indian Minister Murugan wore a traditional dress that showcased the Indian heritage. He said he was proudly dressed traditional for the red carpet debut. A media report quoted him saying that his neighbourhood tailor embroidered on the shirt and the tricolor across the chest. The Indian Minister explains that 2023 marks a major year for India as G-20 and SCO president and the country was showcasing its culture, heritage, craft and legacy all year round. The official Indian delegation from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting includes as representatives of the film industry actors Manushi Chillar, Esha Gupta, and Kangabam Tomba, and Oscar winner Guneet Mongia. Bollywood star and cricket sensation Virat Kohli`s wife Anushka Sharma makes a debut in Cannes. Along with Kate Winslet, a well-known Hollywood actress, she will be celebrating women in film. Meanwhile, the consistently gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a regular at Cannes, is attending along with her charming daughter Aaradhya. Also attending are Madhur Bhandarkar, Mrunal Thakur, Aditi Rao Hydari, Vijay Varma, Vignesh Shivan, Niharika NM, Ruhee Dosani, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Dolly Singh. The Indian showcase at Cannes includes the films – `Kennedy` by Anurag Kashyap, `Agra` by Kanu Behl, `Nehemich` by Yudhajit Basu, and `Ishanou` by Aribam Syam Sharma. `Kennedy,` `Nehemich,` and `Ishanou` will be included in the Midnight Screenings, La Cinef, and Cannes Classics sections, respectively. `Agra` will make its world premiere in the Directors` Fortnight section.
