Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar known as Bharat Kumar for his patriotic roles in films has turned 80 on July 25, 2017. Incidentally, hisname at birth was Harikrishna Giri Goswami. His image as the patriotic hero started with `Shaheed`, based on the life of Indian martyr Then. India`s Bhagat Singh. Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri asked him to make a film on the slogan `Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisaan.` It resulted in his directorial debut - `Upkaar`, with the stirring song, `Mere Desh ki Dharti.` Earlier,  he starred in `Purab Aur Paschim` (1970), in which life in the East and West are juxtaposed. In 1972, he starred in `Be-Imaan` (for which he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award).
