Movie Review: Ek Ladki Ko Dekha toh Aisa Laga

The much awaited Sonam Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao starrer film - Ek Ladki ko Dekha toh aisa laga hit the silver screens on friday. The initial review from the public as well as the critics have been good. This film is one of the first mainstream Hindi film to touch the theme of same sex love. The film featuring the father-daughter duo of Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, does not go overboard with the same gender love theme and is easy on the eyes. The treatment is sensitive and director Shelly Chopra Dhar should be applauded for keeping it humor faced. The story has the playwright Rajkumar Rao following his muse Sonam Kapoor to her town in Punjab where he meets her middle class father. The story then unveils the secrets of the girl`s interests little by little. Sonam as the lonely, misunderstood punjabi girl is flawless, Anil Kapoor makes his presence felt on screen, Rajkumar Rao is at his usual best and Juhi Chawla is a delight who steals the attention in the scenes she is part of. Overall the film touching a sensitive LGBTQ topic has been dealt well without taking out the entertainment factor drawing the audiences to the theatres and only box office collections will tell how the audiences receive the message.
