Bollywood`s latest controversial flick, `The Kerala Story,` has taken India by storm. It`s pitched critics against promoters, with an ongoing onslaught of public exchange of tirades and also bans in some cases. On the flip side, the box office collections of `The Kerala Story` are showing a graph that`s rare! The film, released on 5th May 2023, has become the fifth-highest grosser among Hindi Bollywood films in 2023. `The Kerala Story` has grossed more in ticket collections on Wednesday 10 May 2023 than Tuesday 9th May 2023. Tuesday`s collection was Rupees 11.14 crores, and Wednesday`s topped it with Rupees 12 crores. Rather, the Wednesday gross revenue dismantled the weekend Saturday revenue of Rupees 11.22 crores. This, when the movie has suffered in collections due to bans and protests. Some hail `The Kerala Story` as a phenomenon. Others dismiss it as a false propaganda timed with the elections in Karnataka state of India. Nevertheless, cinema-goers have flocked to theatres and made `The Kerala Story` the fifth-highest grosser among Hindi Bollywood films in 2023. Produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Sudipto Sen, the film is a billed as a “conversion terrorism drama.” The gross collections have touched Rupees 68.86 crores, that could by Thursday 11th May 2023 become as high as Rupees 80 crores. The biggest collection was on Sunday 7th May at Rupees 16.40 crores.
