‘Daayra’ releases in cinemas on 18th September 2026. The trailer is out, and this Meghna Gulzar directorial is replete with crime, justice,e and punishment in an emotionally charged narrative. The thriller is penned by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal and Meghna Gulzar.

Based on true events, ‘Daayra’ is the story of a crime that startled India and led to widespread outrage and even set off two investigations in motion. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran play two senior police officers. Each is determined to get to the bottom of rhe truth albeit through different approaches and interestingly on opposing sides of the case that producers say challenges the very idea of right and wrong.

‘Daayra’ has an ensemble cast with powerful performances by Jitendra Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Kanwaljeet Singh, Sandeep Kulkarni and Trupti Khamkar.

Kareena Kapoor Khan says that working with Meghna that she makes you question everything you think you know about a character.

Prithviraj Sukumaran loved his , DCP Raman Kumar character for the complexity beneath his composed exterior and the questions he finds himself grappling with during the investigation.

Director Meghna Gulzar said ‘Daayra’ goes beyond black and white and explores the grey and dismantles it.
