Bollywood’s celebrated director David Dhawan’s latest ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ trailer launch was a star studded show in Mumbai on recently. Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur, David Dhawan, Ramesh Taurani, Anu Malik, Sameer, Maniesh Paul, Chunky Panday, Rajesh Kumar, Jimmy Sheirgill, Rajat Rawail, Ali Asgar, Girish Kumar, Kumar Taurani, writer Rumy Jafry, and cinematographer Ayananka Bose were in attendance. Sameer and Rumy Jafry regaled the audience with hilarious anecdotes.

Sameer talked about how David is a tough man to please while writing for him. He talked of several instances and films in which Varun Dhawan’s father David harassed him a lot! And, writing songs for him is even tougher. Sameer wrote the song ‘Ishq Sona Hai’ in Biwi No 1 (1999). For “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” it was déja vu again when David demanded and said his famous phrase quote ‘Situation gayi tel laga ne. Tu mujhe hit gaane de’ end quote.

Sameer has written for David since his first film and 95% of the songs of David’s films are penned by Sameer.

Rumy reveals David and his family are like his own.
