Irfaan allays Deepika fears
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone had wondered when filming for `Piku` how her interaction would work with her senior co-actor Irrfan Khan who is an accomplished Bollywood and Hollywood star. Deepika is an established commercial cinema actor, and felt Irrfan with his history in art and commercial cinema across the world might be an intense actor, stern and maybe even look down upon her. Deepika says her fears were unfounded and Irrfan turned out to be a gentleman and a kind co-star. She paired opposite Irrfan for the first time in the Shoojit Sircar directed film. Irrfan is unassuming and humble, says Deepika. `Piku` is about discovering relationships, and Deepika says the two stars also discovered each other on a real life planar level. She now claims to be an admirer of Irrfan`s sense of humour and even counts similarities between them. He is also shy, talks less but whatever he says is very funny. Deepika credits Irrfan with impeccable comic timing. Deepika plays Piku Banerjee, an independent working woman in Delhi, and megastar Amitabh Bachchan plays her father Bhashkor Banerjee in the film. She admires Irrfan and Big B for making her comfortable on the set, and said they reminded her of Shah Rukh Khan who also put her at ease during her debut film `Om Shanti Om`.
