Jail for celebrities

Bollywood super duper star Salman Khan`s fans may never get over the fact that their favourite star is convicted for 5 years in jail, and that happened 13 long years after the 2002 hit-and-run case. The industry`s worst nightmare begins as the Mumbai High Court granted him interim bail for two days but it seems certain that Salman would have to spend some time behind bars. He is not the first film personality convicted of a crime in Bollywood or Hollywood. The who`s who of entertainment has endured imprisonment and the list is long. Sanjay Dutt arrested in 2013 under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention Act) TADA for illegal possession of arms. Dutt is currently serving the remainder of his five-year sentence given by the Supreme Court. Fardeen Khan was arrested in 2001 as he attempted to buy cocaine in Mumbai. Fardeen claimed that it was only for private consumption. He came out of the jail on bail after five days and was later granted immunity from prosecution in 2012. Shiney Ahuja was sent to seven years of rigourous imprisonment for raping his domestic help in 2009. The sessions court convicted Ahuja based on circumstantial evidence. Monica Bedi was arrested with gangster Abu Salem for entering Portugal on forged documents in 2002.
