Mahesh Babu invokes emotions as Rudhra in Rajamouli’s film ‘Varanasi’
SS Rajamouli’s next grandiose project ‘Varanasi’ was unveiled in Hyderabad at the Ramoji film city. ‘Varanasi’ is a film with south Indian superstar Mahesh Babu playing the avatar of Rudhra. The film releases on screens globally in 2027. Passports and not tickets were handed out to fans that lined up in thousands to see the event announcing ‘Varanasi.’ The trailer was released on JioHotstar or Variety. Lead stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran attended the grand event and Shruti Haasan performed. A massive screen announced the title as fans were emotional carrying posters and placards, including in a special bike rally in the city. The announcement video shows an asteroid falling to Earth, with pieces falling in Varanasi, Antarctica, Africa, and other locations. The film captures events through centuries. Producers hinted at a connection with Ramayana. It ends with a visual of Mahesh holding a trishul (trident) while covered in blood and riding a bull. Temples can be seen in the background. ‘Varanasi’ follows Rajamouli’s 2022 hit RRR that was a sensation worldwide. One recollects that the RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ even won the coveted Oscar in Hollywood at the Academy Awads. ‘Varanasi’ stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka plays Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran plays antagonist Kumbha. Priyanka and Prithviraj’s looks from the film were released earlier. Press is told that the shooting took place in Kenya, apart from Odisha and Hyderabad in India. The film has been plagued by leaks on information and even some shots.
