Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan  says he took a chance with his latest release `Fan` as he wanted to present before the audience something which they had never seen before.  He reiterates   `Fan` isn`t a  film that the heartland audience will like. But he  took a chance thinking hopefully they will like it, but they need song and dance. The actor  in his over 20-year-long career has given several blockbusters like “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,” “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Chennai Express” and “Happy News Year,” among others.  But some of his films like “Swades” and “Chak De! India” did not do good business at the box office compared to his other commercial films.    During the  making of  ‘Swades` he had  told director  Ashutosh Gowariker  that  this film will not make as much business as the other  films do. But Ashutosh did  make a film like ‘Swades’ with a star like him.It will attract  more  appreciation when an established director, producer, star does something unusual like ‘Fan`. He thinks  there are two types of audiences: ones that enjoy offbeat films and those that like commercial films. He knew the heartland audience wouldn’t like `Fan` much, as it’s not a typical SRK film.
