The makers of the upcoming `Udta Punjab`  released all the posters of the film, each one introducing a character from the film, on April 16, 2016.   The trailer begins with a shot of Tommy  played by Shahid Kapur, looking cool as hell, sporting a trendy, asymmetrical hairdo. The next few scenes establish him as the troubled Punjabi rockstar. He has a fan-following but is enslaved by the powder that he has to snort to keep going. Kumari Pinky (Alia Bhatt), with her soiled clothes, freckled skin and Bhojpuri twang, is indeed impressive.  While Shahid and Alia`s characters are sketched to be freespirits, Dr Preet Sahani (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Sartaj Singh Dhillon (Diljit Dosanjh) seem to be the lawmakers. They act the part of concerned adults for the youth that seems to have lost the plot. The poster has an expletive  `Drugs di maa di`. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with Phantom Pictures, the Abhishek Chaubey directorial is all set to release on June 17, 2016.The trailer starts with an ominous message - that of Punjab becoming the next Mexico if the youth of the state continue to be addicted to drugs.  It presents the murky state of affairs of a generation that finds pleasure by altering their state of mind through substance abuse.
