India Parliament Polls 2024: Phase 2 records 60.96% voting |
Second phase of the Indian Parliamentary elections for the lower house, Lok Sabha, on 26 April 1024 recorded 60.96 per cent votes cast till 9 pm across 88 seats in 13 states and Union Territories. Over 1,203 candidates, along with an additional 4 candidates from Outer Manipur, were in the fray. Votes were cast on all 20 seats of Kerala, besides 14 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, eight seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and seven seats in Madhya Pradesh. In Assam and Bihar, polling happened in five seats each. Elections were held on three seats each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. One seat each in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir went for elections. With the end of the second phase, Lok Sabha elections are now over in Kerala, Rajasthan and Tripura. Karnataka recorded a voter turnout of 67.77 per cent till 9 pm in the second phase. Phase 2 polling witnessed also special initiatives by Bengaluru restaurants and the civic body. Various restaurants in Bangalore were offering free dosas, laddu, coffee and other food items at discounted rates to customers who cast their votes.
