Australia beat India in Cricket T20 match |
Visiting Australian cricket team beat India by four wickets to take the lead in the opening match of the three-match T20i series on September 20 in Mohali, Punjab state. Asked to bat first, India got off to a good start with opener KL Rahul scoring a half-century to set the platform for hard-hitting Hardik Pandya to go berserk at the end. The in-form Pandya pummelled the visiting bowlers into submission with his unbeaten 30-ball 71. The all-rounder smashed five sixes to take India over the 200-run mark. India finished their innings with a total of 208 for 6. For Australia, medium pacer Nathan Ellis 3/30 was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, Australia opened with Aaron Finch and all-rounder Cameron Green. Soon the two Aussies put Indian bowlers to the sword, with Green scoring a 30-ball 61 before wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade came out all guns blazing with 21 balls 45 to take the visitors over the line with four balls to spare. Only Axar Patel had a good outing with the ball for India as he finished his quota of overs with 3 wickets for 17 runs. With the win, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
