India tops with most babies born on 1 Jan 2020 |
According to the UNICEF, which released its report on Wednesday, India welcomed an estimated 67,385 babies, the highest in the world, in 2020 on New Year`s Day. It was followed by China (46,299), Nigeria (26,039), Pakistan (16,787), Indonesia (13,020) and the United States of America (10,452) among others. According to the report, Indian babies were likely will account for 17 percent of the estimated 392,078 babies to be born globally on New Year`s Day. Several babies were born in India`s national capital region too. According to reports, Fiji in the Pacific most likely delivered 2020`s first baby while the United States will deliver the last baby of New Year`s Day. Each January, UNICEF, celebrates babies born on New Year`s Day, an auspicious day for childbirth around the world. UNICEF` is running a campaign for immediate investment in health workers with the right training, who are equipped with the right medicines to ensure every mother and newborn is cared for by a safe pair of hands to prevent and treat complications during pregnancy, delivery, and birth.
