Menstrual hygiene drive, compostable pads in Sunderbans |
Manushi Chillar, former Miss World of 2017, has reached out to create menstrual hygiene awareness and distribute the only nearly 100% compostable sanitary napkin to the women of cyclone and COVID-19 affected Sunderbans in West Bengal. A function was held virtually and marked the launch of Anandi Eco plus pads, certified by Govt Of India to be nearly 100% compostable. Anandi, India`s first and only certified ~100% compostable sanitary pad, was launched in West Bengal in a glittering ceremony to support 5,000 needy women and girls in Sunderbans with a packet of pads every month for six months. Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar & 3 partner NGOs held a special online launch ceremony on 10 January 2021. It was also announced by Aakar Founder & CEO Jaydeep Mandal that for every purchase of Anandi pack anywhere in India, Aakar will contribute to providing Pads free to the needy girls & women. Aakar Social Ventures will also provide them menstrual hygiene education. The first to be targeted are those severely affected by the cyclone Amphan and COVID-19.
