No headway in talks between Indian Govt, farmers |
The 9th round of talks in India between protesting farmer unions and 3 Central Government Ministers got underway in New Delhi on 15th January. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash held talks with the representatives of around 40 farmer unions in New Delhi. Discussions were held on all the three laws before the lunch break. The 3 ministers and farmers unions committed to continue holding direct talks to resolve the deadlock over three agri laws, with the Agriculture Minister urging farmer leaders to be flexible in their approach as has been done by the government.
