US Deputy Secretary of State to visit India |
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman will be visiting India for bilateral meetings with Indian officials and to attend the India Ideas Summit, according to the State Department. She will be in New Delhi on October 6 and in Mumbai on October 7th before heading to Pakistan to meet with senior officials there, the Department said on Sept. 27. She is also scheduled to meet with civil society groups in New Delhi and Mumbai and with business organizations in Mumbai. It is interesting to note that last month the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director had also visited India and then proceeded to Pakistan. Afghanistan is an important subject of discussions in both India and Pakistan. Of course, the US lays emphasis on the fact that top officials visit India first and then Pakistan.
