Indians Don’t Need Transit Visa In Germany
Travel through German airports is made easy for Indian travelers. Germany has waived the requirement of an airport transit visa for Indian nationals travelling to a third country via any international airport in Germany. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made the announcement in Ahmedabad as part of his visit to India. Hundreds of thousands of Indian passengers transit through German airports, mainly Frankfurt and Munich, as they travel onwards to third countries, principally the United States and Canada. A transit visa is for a layover while en route to a final destination. Passengers cannot leave the international area of the transit airport. Also, the duration of transit visas is also limited. Air India and Lufthansa currently operate direct flights to Germany from India. Air India operates daily flights from Mumbai and New Delhi to Frankfurt and Munich. Lufthansa, the German flag carrier, operates flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai to Frankfurt and Munich.
