India not in nations getting 90-day US Visa waiver |
Indian travellers to USA must apply for regular B1 (business) or B2 (tourist) visas. This exclusion is due to reciprocity requirements, immigration patterns, security considerations, and bilateral policy evaluations. The United States Visa Waiver Program (VWP) that allows 90-day electronic visa entry for citizens from 41 designated countries does not include India. India is kept out of the program on a reciprocal basis. India does nor allow waiver to US travelers. The program requires travellers to obtain Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) approval rather than traditional visas. Under the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP), citizens from approved countries avoid visa application requirements for visits not exceeding 90 days when travelling for tourism or business purposes.
