NRIs and OCIs Can Now Own Up to 10% Stake in Listed Indian Companies
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Indian government have doubled the INDIVIDUAL investment limit for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) to 10% of a listed company's paid-up equity capital, up from 5%.
The aggregate (total) limit for all such investors combined has also been raised to 24%, up from 10%.
Key Details --Individual Limit: A single NRI or OCI investor can now acquire up to 10% of a company’s paid-up capital without needing mandatory SEBI registration.
Aggregate Limit: All NRIs and OCIs combined can now hold up to 24% of a listed company.
