130,000 fewer Indians visited USA in 2025
Indian visitors to the USA in 2025 declined, falling from 2.19 million to 2.09 million. The decrease in numbers is the first since the pandemic. There was double-digit growth right after COVID-19. But international arrivals have declined overall. So, the 130,000 fewer Indians, or 6 percent, is not just for Indian travelers. Though Indians had become the fastest-growing tourists for the US. Data released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), a department of the United States government, did note that Indian arrivals in 2025 are still significantly higher than the numbers in any year except 2024. In 2019, before the pandemic, 1.47 million Indians had visited the US. The majority of the arrivals in the USA came from Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Japan, comprising 59 pc of total international arrivals. The top five countries with travelers heading to the United States for business purposes were India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. The biggest decrease in visitors from Canada. But it is still the second largest international market, with over 16 million visitors. Canadian visitors to the USA declined by a hefty 21 pc from 2024. This is due to diplomatic and political tension between Canada and the US.
